The invention of the ATM cards made the world easier. You can withdraw and access your money almost anywhere in the world, and the need to carry bulky cash around is no more necessary.
However, there are disadvantages to anything good, and this is not an exception.
There have been several cases where one would lose their ATM cards and in a few hours, their bank accounts have been wiped, even without OTP.
These criminals find ways to bypass the OTP and security checks and most times spend the money on foreign websites where these things are not required.
What To Do Once You Lose Your ATM Card
Once you lose your ATM card, the first two things you should do even without getting a new one are:-
Block the card
This is very necessary and it is why we are putting down the article. You should immediately block the article using the steps we will discuss below.
Move your funds
In case blocking the account doesn’t work, it is time to move your money out of the account.
You can move it to another bank or a friend/ family member’s account in the meantime. This is mostly if it happens on a weekend and you do not get to block it immediately.
Blocking Your UBA ATM Card: How Can You Go About It?
It is very common for people to begin to process new cards once the old ones get missing, but it is not the best.
Sometimes these cards get missing and the criminals wait till the weekend since they know the banks will not work.
We will be seeing three steps through which you can block the UBA ATM cards if need be.
Please note that after blocking it, you can contact the bank online or visit any of their branches to unblock it.
The USSD Code
With the phone number you used to create the bank account, you can block it even without an internet connection.
To do this, dial the UBA USSD code, *919#, and continue selecting option 8 (next) and further selecting option 2 (ATM card) from the next page.
You can also dial *919*10# and move on with the process.
The UBA Internet Banking Platform
You can also block your ATM card using the internet banking platform, either online or on the app.
– Visit the internet banking platform or log in to your Android/ IOS app with your details.
– Tap the Self-service option
– Follow the process and get the missing card blocked.
Please note that you will need to have registered for the service before you can access this.
If you cannot use any of the first two options, then it’s time to reach out to the bank.
You can reach out to them via:-
(+234) 01-2808822 (2808UBA)
(+234) 7002255-822 (0700-CALL-UBA)

I put them together because they mean the same to me (sarcasm intended haha).
We are human beings and in some cases, we really can’t avoid missing our items. However, we need to take precautions to avoid further losses.
Don’t make the mistake of leaving your funds at the mercy of other people or getting it back will be a more tasking job.
