Buhari Yesufu Biography and Career
Buhari Yesufu was born in 1996 to the family of Abubakar Yesufu. In an interview with Bella Naija, Buhari revealed that he came from a family with a strong political background. His dad is a vocal critic of the government and was actively involved in the Sowore case, working alongside Femi Falana to secure Sowore\’s release. As a child, his dad would always play Fela\’s music, using it as a way to teach us the value of being Nigerian.
He had his university education at Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham, England. He began his career as a creative while at the university, where he practised photography. Upon his graduation, he moved back to Nigeria and got an opportunity to manage Ajebutter22, a move that helped draw him into the entertainment industry.
They worked for more than a year, dropping the \’What Happens in Lagos album\’ album. From there, he went on to start working with \’The Girl Them Sugar\’ crooner, Julydrama. He also worked as Prettyboy D-O\’s road manager.
He started his career as a video director during the COVID-19 period. He debuted as a director with the 2021 TV series, \’Sub Sahara\’. \’Sub Sahara\’ mirrors the typical African society and its pressing needs, telling the tale of how African leaders and the people are often distracted by peripheral issues, and ignore the important ones.
The movie features young faces in Nollywood like Tobi Bakre, Sophie Alakija, Mijah Confidence, Ebenezer Akachukwu, Darasimi Ogbetah, Adebiyi Adetola, Steve Chuks, Eva Ibiam and Vasco Egbaiyelo.
In April 2022, Buhari Yesufu directed the official video to Joeboy\’s song, \’DUFFEL BAG\’.
