The road can be a bit confusing especially as a newbie. In my first experience, the keke driver took me around the town to double the t-fare and eventually wanted to zoom off with my change.
He asked me to come down from the keke while he brings the change and I refused. I eventually found out he had taken me round town and my transport fare was actually doubled.
People offering to help you
One of the craziest experiences in Onitsha involve people who help others only to turn and begin to request money.
It can be something as simple as giving you a direction or helping you cross the road, even when you don’t ask.
I will advise you to seek directions from people who own shops or taxi drivers if you need help.
Looking smart
For real, you don’t have to dress smartly while entering Onitsha or you will be an immediate target.
Put on something casual and they will assume you are one of them, I won’t even be putting many words into this.
