How To Calculate Unilag Cut-Off Mark

Just as other important universities do in Nigeria, the University of Lagos also calculates cut-off marks for every course. This implies that every aspiring student must fulfill the criterion of meeting his/her course’s cut-off before being considered for admission.

To calculate the Unilag cut-off mark, you have to have an understanding of how your aggregate score is being calculated first.

How To Calculate Your Aggregate Score

In Unilag, your aggregate score is calculated thus:

  • 20 per cent of the total score is given the “O” level score,
  • 50 per cent of the total score is given to the UTME score and,
  • The remaining 30 per cent is given to the post UTME score.

For the “O” level score, five subjects are calculated with their grades, and the UTME score is divided by 8. The result of the two is obtained and is added to your Post UTME score.

Following the above calculations, the student, therefore, obtains his or her aggregate score and awaits the release of the cut-off mark.

The cut-off mark is based on the many criteria which are always best known to the school authority. Sometimes, the criteria are based on the performance of the aspirants. In essence, whether or not the students passed well.

The school authority sometimes repeats the same cut-off mark. Sometimes, they reduce the cut-off marks. In all, it depends on the general performance of the students.

Thus, the cut-off mark of Unilag can not be guessed as this is determined by the board of directors together with the Senate.

Conclusively, the aggregate score of a student goes a long way in determining if such a student will be admitted to the school. This means that good results are required right from the O” level results, the UTME results, and also the post UTME results.

If you intend to join one of the best schools in Nigeria, you must do excellently well in every exam you write.
