The National Identity Number (NIN) is a unique identification number assigned to every Nigerian citizen and resident by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The NIN is used to identify individuals for various purposes, including accessing government services, enrolling in educational institutions, and participating in the electoral process. In order to obtain a NIN, individuals must register with the NIMC and provide proof of their identities, such as a birth certificate or national passport.
The NIMC issues the NIN after verifying the individual’s identity and storing their personal information and biometric data in the National Identity Database. The NIN consists of 11 digits and is used in conjunction with other identification documents, such as the national identity card and the driver’s license, to confirm the identity of individuals in Nigeria.
To check your National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) details online, you will need to follow these steps:
- Go to the NIMC website and click on the “e-ID Card Verification” link in the top menu.
- On the e-ID Card Verification page, enter your National Identification Number (NIN) in the field provided and click on the “Verify” button. You’ll be asked to input an OTP which will be sent to your number.
- If the NIN and OTP you provided are valid, you will see your NIMC details displayed on the screen, including your name, date of birth, and other personal information.
- If you are unable to access your NIMC details online, you can also visit a NIMC enrollment center in person and present your NIN and a valid form of identification to get a copy of your NIMC details.
Note: Keep in mind that the NIMC website may not always be available, as it may be down for maintenance or experiencing technical issues. In this case, you will need to wait and try again later.
Other Methods of Checking Your NIMC
