Applications are now open for the 2024 Heinrich Böll Stiftung Global Feminist Pitch. This initiative is designed to support young feminists from countries in the Global South, aiming to highlight global feminist solidarities through various formats. In 2024-2025, five selected feminists from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or (South) Eastern Europe will have the opportunity to document feminist protest culture in their region through a 15-minute documentary film. This film will be produced by Deblokada Production from Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and will be part of an anthology film.
Throughout this process, participants will receive support from the Global Unit for Feminism and Gender Democracy, Deblokada Production, and industry experts through workshops, consultations, and feedback sessions. The completed documentary films will premiere at the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. These films will showcase the power of feminist protest culture, contribute to the global feminist debate, enrich the existing discourse, and offer insights into how feminism is practiced in different regions worldwide.
Eligibility Requirements
- You are between 25 and 35 years old.
- You are from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or (South) Eastern Europe.
- You have a good command of the English language.
- You are an aspiring documentary filmmaker with relevant experience and background.
- You have the necessary filming equipment (for both picture and sound).
- You have a feminist background and prior experience working on feminist issues.
- You are committed to participating in the Global Feminist Pitch until August 2025.
Selection Criteria
Five feminist filmmakers with the best proposals and relevant experience will be selected from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and (South) Eastern Europe. The selected filmmakers will receive:
- An agreed honorarium as compensation for their work.
- Support from the Global Unit for Feminism and Gender Democracy and Deblokada Production throughout the Global Feminist Pitch.
- Opportunities to participate in online workshops, learn from industry experts, and connect with other feminist filmmakers worldwide.
- The chance to have their 15-minute documentary film included in a film omnibus, produced by Deblokada Production and released by the Global Unit for Feminism and Gender Democracy.
