The Global Youth Fellows 2024-2025 program presents an incredible opportunity for young leaders passionate about gender equality. Organized by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York Youth Leaders & Young Professionals (YLYPs), this initiative aims to empower and connect 20 young activists from around the world. If you are committed to advancing gender equality and making a meaningful impact in your community, this program is designed for you.
Program Overview:
Now in its second year, the Global Youth Fellows program seeks to build a strong global community of youth advocates by recognizing and amplifying the voices of young leaders. By participating in this cohort, you will gain access to a lifelong network of individuals who share your dedication to gender equality and social justice.
Community Engagement:
The Youth Leaders & Young Professionals (YLYPs) community is devoted to promoting global gender equality and engaging actively in United Nations processes, particularly the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). The NGO CSW/NY’s YLYP program is designed to empower young people to take an active role in these processes, encouraging intergenerational dialogue and fostering valuable connections.
Focus on the Beijing Declaration:
This year’s program will spotlight the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a key milestone in the advancement of women’s rights. The focus will be on the Declaration’s 12 critical areas, applying a human rights framework to advocate for the rights of women and girls.
Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for the Global Youth Fellows program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be under 40 years old
- Have a minimum of two years’ experience in community or civil society work
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting civil society
- Possess proficiency in English
- Be ready to start in October 2024
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a participant in the program, you will be expected to:
- Attend monthly meetings
- Complete assigned tasks and projects
- Commit to implementing your award within your organization
